Why Was My Item Discontinued or Unavailable After I Already Ordered It?
Occasionally you may place an order for an item that shows as available on our website, only to be told afterwards — sometimes weeks later — that it's been discontinued or is no longer available.
Why does this happen?
Our website's stock and product listings are fed from IKEA's own inventory and catalogue systems. There can be a delay between IKEA discontinuing a product, running out of stock, or changing what's available, and that change being reflected on our website. We don't always find out an item can no longer be sourced until we go to place the order with IKEA on your behalf, which is why you may only hear about it after some time has passed.
This isn't something we can guarantee will never happen, but we do notify you as soon as we know.
What happens to that item in my order?
As soon as we find out an IKEA item can't be sourced, we automatically refund that item's value to your MaltaShopper store credit and email you to let you know — you don't need to do anything for this to happen. That credit is available immediately and can be used toward a replacement item or any future order.
If you'd prefer a refund to your original payment method instead of store credit, just reply to that email (or contact us at sales@maltashopper.com) and let us know — we're happy to switch it over, whenever you get in touch, regardless of how much time has passed.
Other options are also available if you'd rather:
- Wait, if there's a chance the item comes back in stock (we'll share a restock date if we have one)
- A replacement item, if you'd like help choosing something similar
Can I check whether an item is genuinely available before ordering?
There's no way to guarantee 100% real-time accuracy, since we rely on IKEA's own systems. If you want extra reassurance before placing a large order, feel free to email sales@maltashopper.com with the product code and we can check with our team before you order.
