Shipping & Delivery Costs Explained
A breakdown of how Maltashopper's shipping and delivery costs work — for website products and transport-only services.
Shipping & Delivery Costs Explained
Products Sold on Our Website (IKEA, CASA, Bricocenter, The White Stone)
For products you purchase on maltashopper.com, the product price you see is the final price — our freight from Italy is already included. The only additional charge is local delivery within Malta, if you choose to have your order delivered rather than collecting it yourself.
Local delivery fees are calculated automatically at checkout based on your order. The cost depends on the size, weight, and number of items. You'll see the exact delivery fee before you confirm your order.
If you select collection (pickup), there is no delivery charge. You collect your items from our warehouse once we notify you they've arrived.
What's Included in Your Delivery Fee
Your delivery fee covers delivery of your order once it's complete — once all your live items have arrived at our warehouse, we deliver them together in a single delivery that completes your order.
If you'd like some of your items before the whole order is ready, you're welcome to collect the items that have already arrived from our warehouse, free of charge, and have the rest delivered once your order is complete. See "Orders That Arrive in Stages & Collecting Remaining Items" for details.
Booking Your Delivery Date
Once your order is complete — all your live items have arrived at our warehouse in Malta — you can visit your order tracking link and select your preferred delivery date. If you already have a delivery date booked, it will show on your tracking link. You can change your delivery date via your tracking link up to 48 hours before the scheduled date.
We are unable to guarantee a specific delivery time. Our standard delivery window is 9am–4:30pm. On delivery day, you'll receive a real-time tracking link so you can follow the van's progress and see when the driver is approaching.
How Delivery Works by Brand
IKEA products are delivered from our Mqabba warehouse. Once your order is complete, you book your delivery date via your tracking link.
CASA products that are in stock are delivered from our Santa Venera warehouse within 2 working days. Our Santa Venera team will coordinate with you.
Bricocenter products are delivered from our Mqabba warehouse, following the same process as IKEA.
The White Stone mattresses follow a similar process — you'll be able to book delivery once your order is complete.
Transport-Only Services (Mondo Convenienza, Maisons du Monde & other Sicilian stores)
For brands where we provide a transport-only collection service, you pay the supplier directly for the products. Our fee covers the collection from the store's warehouse in Sicily and transport to Malta, and it is worked out from your order confirmation or invoice:
- Mondo Convenienza: 20% of the undiscounted order value, or €140 per cubic metre of goods if that is higher, with a minimum of €250.
- Maisons du Monde and other Sicilian stores (Leroy Merlin, Tecnomat, Euronics, H&M…): 25% of the undiscounted order value, or €140 per cubic metre of goods if that is higher, with a minimum of €100.
How the volume part works: we estimate the volume from the sizes printed on your order confirmation. Large but inexpensive items — sofas, beds, wardrobes, full bedroom sets — take up a lot of truck space, so they are usually priced on volume rather than on the percentage. Kitchens, appliances and smaller items normally stay on the percentage. If a bulky item has no size on the invoice, we'll ask you for it (a link to the product page is enough) before quoting.
The minimum applies per pickup. If the store splits one purchase into several order numbers that are collected together, that counts as one job with one minimum.
The quote is final once we have your invoice. Nothing is re-measured at collection. Fees are always based on the original retail price before any discounts or promotions the supplier may have applied.
Collection from our Mqabba warehouse is free. If you'd like home delivery instead (ground floor), it's an optional add-on at €35 per cubic metre of goods, quoted together with the transport fee.
Gozo Deliveries
We deliver to Gozo, normally scheduled once a week.
Ground Floor Only
Our delivery service covers ground floor only. If you need items delivered to an upper floor, you'll need to arrange a lifting company yourself and coordinate the schedule with our delivery team — lifting costs are your responsibility. On the day, our team loads your goods onto the lifter at street level; unloading from the lifter into your apartment or terrace is normally handled by you (or the lifter company/helpers you arrange).
International Shipping
EU countries (since 18 August 2026): we no longer deliver to addresses in the European Union (any EU member state other than Malta, including EU territories such as Réunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Åland). You can still order from maltashopper.com with an EU address — at checkout you will be offered collection only. Once your order is ready you can collect it from our warehouse in Malta yourself, have someone in Malta collect it for you, or send your own courier or freight forwarder to collect it on your behalf (you book and pay the courier directly; they collect from our Mqabba warehouse for IKEA and Bricocenter items, or from Santa Venera for CASA items, during normal collection hours, quoting your order number). This is a deliberate change, not a checkout error, so regions and provinces in EU countries will not be added back to the shipping form.
Exception: The White Stone mattresses are still delivered to EU addresses — they are shipped directly by the supplier and the delivery fee is shown at checkout. If your basket mixes a mattress with other items, the other items must be collected.
Non-EU countries: we ship to most non-EU countries worldwide (including the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Serbia and Turkey) as tracked parcels via Maltapost. Shipping costs are shown at checkout and are based on weight: up to 30 kg per order for most countries, 20 kg for the UK, Switzerland and Norway. Some countries, notably the USA, are not served. Glass, porcelain, ceramic, terracotta and stoneware items are not sold for delivery outside Malta because they cannot survive parcel transit. Not all items are stocked in Malta — if you order something that needs to be sourced from our suppliers first, standard lead times apply before we can ship it.
Storage Fees
We have limited warehouse space, so ready orders need to move promptly. Storage fees apply to both delivery and collection orders (policy effective 29 July 2026).
Delivery orders: once every item on your order is ready, we email you to select your delivery date from your tracking link, with a reminder after 24 hours and a final warning by email and SMS after 48 hours. The deadline is one week after the first email.
Collection orders: you receive a reminder about 3 days after your order is ready, another around day 10, and a final email and SMS around day 13 stating an exact collection deadline (3 further warehouse-open days).
After the deadline, a weekly storage fee of 10% of the value of the goods still awaiting delivery or collection applies. There is no minimum fee, it is charged only on the awaiting goods, and only while those goods together weigh more than 7 kg. It is added every week until the fees are paid and the goods are on their way (a date selected, or the goods collected). Your tracking page shows a "Pay storage fee" button. If the accumulated fees reach the value of the awaiting goods, those goods are cancelled and their value settles the fees, with no refund due.
See Storage fees for orders awaiting delivery or collection for the full policy.
