Do IKEA appliances come with a warranty?
EU 2-Year Warranty:
In line with EU consumer protection legislation, all appliances purchased from our store are covered by a mandatory two-year legal warranty. This guarantees that the product will be free from manufacturing defects and function as intended for a minimum of two years from the date of delivery. Should a fault occur within this period due to a manufacturing issue, we will offer a repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with local regulations. This warranty excludes damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, unauthorised repairs, cosmetic wear and tear, or failure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines. Please note this is a back to base warranty, meaning the customer is responsible for returning the appliance to our warehouse for any servicing under warranty. A valid Maltashopper delivery note must be presented when making a warranty claim. This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights and does not affect them.
Damage Reporting and Installation
Appliances must be inspected in their original packaging before installation begins. If you spot any visible damage, dents, scratches, missing parts, or items that don't match your order, do not begin installation — open your order tracking link from your tracking link email and tap Start request within 48 hours of delivery, and upload photos showing the issue.
Once an appliance has been installed (plumbed in, wired, mounted, or otherwise integrated into a fixed environment), we are unable to offer a free replacement or full refund for:
- Visible damage (scratches, dents, cosmetic marks) that should have been spotted before installation
- Missing parts or accessories that would have been visible during the pre-installation inspection
- Damage caused during installation by incorrect handling or improper installation
This is because we cannot determine whether the damage was present on delivery or occurred during installation, and an installed appliance cannot be returned in original condition.
Your statutory rights are not affected. The two-year EU legal guarantee under Directive 2019/771 against hidden manufacturing defects continues to apply regardless of installation status. If a manufacturing defect becomes apparent during normal use within two years of delivery, you remain entitled to repair or replacement under the back-to-base warranty described above.
How to start a warranty claim
To begin, open your order tracking link from your tracking link email and tap Start request in the Returns & Exchanges section. Choose the warranty option, describe the issue, and upload photos. HQ will review your request and reply with next steps — including which warehouse to bring the appliance to and what documentation is required (typically your Maltashopper delivery note).
If you cannot transport the appliance yourself, we offer a paid collection service for €50, payable in advance.
